Adopt ICT to grow: IAMAI

NEW DELHI, INDIA: The Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI), on Friday announced that they had held a conference on ICT for SMEs in New Delhi.

The event saw a host of people from the MSME sector brainstorming about the usage of ICT in the MSME sector, said a press release.

Dinesh Rai (Secretary) Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises said that to ensure a healthy growth for MSME’s, ICT is the only solution. There is an urgent need to adapt to the changing needs of the International standards if India has to make her presence felt with a global footprint. The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises have floated several schemes to help the sector overcome hurdles faced by them in the various Government and private entities.

Sanjay Aggarwal (GM Operations IRCTC) stressed on the need for the SME’s to adapt to changing norms of the global businesses by adopting ICT at the earliest, said the release.He put forth IRCTC as an example.

“The e-commerce industry in India is worth over 40 billion dollars, IRCTC contributes 40 per cent of this revenue every year. This has been achieved in a short period of 8 years,” he added.

Dinesh Aggarwal founder and CEO India Mart also called upon the entrepreneurs to use ICT as an agent for change that is much required to gear up the SME sector to come out and take initiative to compete with their global counterparts.

Aggarwal in his talk brought forth the government’s role by way to rationalizing the tax regime and offer single window clearance mechanism. He also stressed upon the need to have proactive strategy for education and infrastructure, which the sector can tap for its manpower needs, added the release.

This one-day event was organized with focus to provide SME owners and managers the opportunity to understand how to grow their business and exactly what technology would  be suited to their environments.
