According to a release, the Indian research and development centre has made significant

contribution to the development of the new product. The crucial import-export module in

the product has been developed by a 25-member team at the Indian R&D centre based in

NOIDA, near New Delhi.

Speaking on the occasion, Adobe Systems Pte Ltd. South Asia Managing Director Loh Teck

Heng said, "The publishing industry is waiting for systems that fulfill the promise

of a complete digital workflow- an intergrated platform that offers increased

productivity, rock-solid reliability, and cost-efficiency." He added, "Adobe

InDesign is the centerpiece of that platform. Together with Photoshop, Illustrator, and

Acrobat, it provides the foundation for next generation comprehensive publishing

solutions."

Based on a brand new, modular code base, InDesign delivers an architecture with

opportunities for developers to tailor the program to specific customer needs. This open

architecture sets a foundation on which Adobe, its third party developers and system

integrators can deliver custom publishing solutions for magazines, advertising agencies,

catalogs, retailers, design studios, and newspapers.

Adobe InDesign for Mac OS 8.5, Windows(R) 98, and Windows NT(R) 4.0 is expected to be

available at a companion upgrade price of Rs 16,000. The product will be retailed at an

estimated price of Rs 48,000. The product will be available in India through Adobe
