New Delhi, August 19, 1999 (Nasdaq:ADBE)- Adobe Systems India Pvt. Ltd. has launched
Adobe InDesign, the next generation of professional publishing software. Adobe InDesign is
a new, page-layout program that delivers unprecedented creative freedom, productivity, and
precision, while integrating seamlessly with Adobe's other leading publishing products to
produce the highest quality output..
According to a release, the Indian research and development centre has made significant
contribution to the development of the new product. The crucial import-export module in
the product has been developed by a 25-member team at the Indian R&D centre based in
NOIDA, near New Delhi.
Speaking on the occasion, Adobe Systems Pte Ltd. South Asia Managing Director Loh Teck
Heng said, "The publishing industry is waiting for systems that fulfill the promise
of a complete digital workflow- an intergrated platform that offers increased
productivity, rock-solid reliability, and cost-efficiency." He added, "Adobe
InDesign is the centerpiece of that platform. Together with Photoshop, Illustrator, and
Acrobat, it provides the foundation for next generation comprehensive publishing
solutions."
Based on a brand new, modular code base, InDesign delivers an architecture with
opportunities for developers to tailor the program to specific customer needs. This open
architecture sets a foundation on which Adobe, its third party developers and system
integrators can deliver custom publishing solutions for magazines, advertising agencies,
catalogs, retailers, design studios, and newspapers.
Adobe InDesign for Mac OS 8.5, Windows(R) 98, and Windows NT(R) 4.0 is expected to be
available at a companion upgrade price of Rs 16,000. The product will be retailed at an
estimated price of Rs 48,000. The product will be available in India through Adobe
authorized distributors Wipro SPD and Summit Data Products Ltd.
