Adobe Creative Suite 4 to expand student horizon

SAN JOSE, USA: Adobe Systems Inc., has announced new Adobe Creative Suite 4 education curriculum and licensing programs for higher education and K-12 schools. The Adobe Creative Suite 4 product family, sets new standards in education by engaging students as they embrace new media and experiment with more hands-on approaches to learning. With the Adobe Creative Suite 4 product family, educators can strengthen 21st century learning and student career development, leveraging enhanced integration of Flash  technology across products, streamlined design and application development, and expanded access to services.

“Students today need to create and share ideas effectively in print, film, video, online, and via mobile handsets,” says Harley Lingerfelt, vice president, information management and technology, Savannah College of Art & Design. “With Adobe Creative Suite 4, students have industry-standard tools to develop cross-media content that is essential if ideas, brands, and products are to remain relevant.”

Along with the release of Creative Suite 4, Adobe is introducing comprehensive career curricula, including Visual Design: Foundations of Design and Print Production; Digital Design: Foundations of Web Design; and Digital Video: Foundations of Video Design and Production. The standards-aligned, project-based curricula enable educators to develop students’ digital communication and career skills, with each project building on skills learned in previous projects. The new curricula have the Seal of Alignment to National Technology Standards for Students published by the International Society of Technology Education (ISTE). With the programs incorporating the new curricula, as well as Adobe certification programs that validate students’ communication skills using digital media, educators have a strong foundation to support students’ future success.

“Creative Suite 4 will make teaching digital media easier and more exciting than ever,” says Kevin McMahon, graphic design and video production teacher, Bellarmine College Preparatory. “With standards-aligned curriculum guides, teachers and students new to Adobe software can quickly advance to techniques used by industry professionals. Along with the curriculum guides, teachers can use the Adobe Certified Associate to better assess student understanding, and students can develop real confidence in their digital skills. In addition, new features in Adobe Creative Suite 4 bring greater levels of productivity and fun to classrooms.”

As Adobe’s biggest software release to date, the Adobe Creative Suite 4 product family offers hundreds of feature innovations and radical workflow breakthroughs, while virtually eliminating barriers between designers and developers. This release introduces Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design editions, Creative Suite 4 Web editions, Creative Suite 4 Production Premium, Adobe Master Collection, as well as 13 standalone products, 14 integrated technologies, and seven Web-based services.
