Following the Macromedia acquisition, the company's current India strength stands at 650, and it plans to add another 300-plus employees by the end of 2006.

As a result of this acquisition, the company has also acquired the Bangalore R&D center of Macromedia, which employed 146 engineers. Of the total addition, Adobe plans to add 200+ employees in its Noida center and 100+ in its Bangalore center.

After the acquisition, Adobe is now divided into six business units. Dr. Gupta would be looking after PCPBU and this is the first time that any business unit is being run out of India. PCPBU will provide print, multimedia publishing and e-learning tools.

Under its print and classic publishing strategy, Adobe plans to have most of its engineering and product management based out of India. It also plans to increase engineering and marketing headcount on these products.

“With this, apart from being an engineering hub for the company, India has also been elevated to run global business from an R&D center,” said Dr. Gupta.

Adobe also announced the launch of three product bundles that combine the Adobe Creative Suite 2 and Adobe video tools with Macromedia Flash Professional 8 and Macromedia Studio 8 software.

Adobe Design and Web Bundles are available in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Japanese and Korean. Estimated street price for the Adobe Design Bundle is $1,599 and the Adobe Web Bundle is $1,899.
