Aditya Birla Retail opts for Oracle solns

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Oracle today announced that Aditya Birla Retail Limited, a part of Aditya Birla Group, has selected Oracle Retail merchandising, planning and supply chain applications to drive its retail growth plans in the country.

The company will also use Oracle Financials, part of the Oracle E-Business Suite, as well as infrastructure software including Oracle Fusion Middleware and Oracle Database.

“We want to offer our retail customers the best choices,” said Sumant Sinha, chief executive officer, Aditya Birla Retail Limited.

“Our IT backbone, of which Oracle Retail Applications are key components, will help us do that. Oracle Retail applications will support our different store formats and help us roll out our new stores faster.”

The Indian retail sector, the fifth largest retail destination globally is estimated to grow from $330 billion in 2007 to $427 billion by 2010.
