Address challenges to succeed: Madhavan Nair

BANGALORE, INDIA: India can emerge as the hub of the electronic semiconductor industry if challenges and issues are addressed. The young generation has to deal with certain challenges specifically, said G. Madhavan Nair, ex-chief of ISRO while inaugurating the Indian Semiconductor Association, ISA's Vision Summit 2010.

The theme for this year's Vision Summit 2010, “India: Market- Momentum for growth in the New Decade”, aims to reach to the next level both in terms of presentation and qualitative participation.

Nair, said, "There are several opportunities for various sectors. ISA event is a platform to discuss and debate the semiconductor trends in India. It is not only the participation from Indian companies but also the interest of foreign players such as the UK, Israel, and Europe in this event that adds to its importance."

He added, “Indian scientists and engineers are capable of dealing with very complex issues. There is a tremendous market potential in the country. Our contribution to the electronics device industry is very minuscule. It is high time the industry takes up the challenge to address the issue.”

Nair said, "We should translate our knowledge into productive needs," adding, "What is needed is leadership.”

Nair reiterated that any product should be a global one and there is a need for innovation to happen to deliver a global product. Design houses should become innovation centers and should take up the challenge in terms of product design.

He concluded that the returns are not immediate, one has to deal with the situation patiently.
