Actuate announces alliance with MongoDB

LONDON, UK: Actuate Corp. announced an alliance with MongoDB, the company behind the synonymous open source NoSQL database used by organisations of all sizes to keep up with demand for unstructured Big Data management.

The collaboration will enable developers to apply Actuate's secure and scalable analytics capabilities to the document-based MongoDB environment. A popular choice for dynamic queries, MongoDB stores data using a BSON (Binary JSON) data interchange structure for data storage and network transfers. To facilitate the use of the two products together Actuate now offers a MongoDB Open Data Access Plugin for BIRT.

The MongoDB ODA plugin for BIRT leverages the dynamic query of rich document schemas, including sub-documents and array fields as well as an aggregation framework, while running selected read-only database command operations. The plugin connects BIRT to MongoDB, creating a scalable, secure and intuitive toolset for building comprehensive visualisations in BIRT from MongoDB-based data.
