Export Promotion and Marketing:
Leather sector being an export- oriented industry, policy measures and regular aggressive export marketing constitute areas of foremost concern. In these areas, ILPA renders specialised and exclusive services to the industry.
Jointly with India Trade Promotion Organisation and Council for Leather Exports ILPA organises International Leather Goods Fair, the most exclusive International annual buyer-sellers meet on leather products in the Eastern Region of the country in Kolkata.
Organises specialized buyers-sellers meets for leather products in various parts of the country. Participates in all prestigious international leather goods fairs.
Procures and disseminates vital market information and statistics pertaining to all major International leather products markets.Provides special information on fashion trends, import requirements etc., pertaining to overseas markets and organising Seminars/Workshop etc.
Procures direct Trade Enquiries from overseas buyers for members.
Organises periodic Sales Teams, promotional study, tours and delegation to various countries.

Development Through Modernisation:
For this rapidly developing industry, modernization is the watchword. Today the accents is on sophisticated production through Hi-tech mechanization to ensure higher productivity and cost effectiveness. Ultimately, the unit-value-addition through exports, development of operational skills, therefore, becomes an obvious corollary of introduction of advanced technology.
Accordingly, ILPA has been pursuing and participating in human resources developmental activites with priority and and well laid-out strategies.
{#PageBreak#}Assist Government and government agencies in planning and establishing integrated leather Complexes, and common facility centers in various regions.
With central organization like the Council for Leather Exports, the Center Leather Research Institute and National Leather Development Programme under UNDP, ILPA has been actively associated with the setting up of leather goods educational — cum training center which has been endowed with UNDP assistance. Technical extended to members of ILPA.
Organises periodic Seminars/Workshops on subjects of typical interest. Represents to Government the industry’s view point on the policy of liberalization and on the import of advanced technology.
Liaises with banks and financial institutions of provision of soft/long term loans for modernization.
Relays Government policy announcement and notification quickly and extensively to the trade.
As part of its ongoing efforts in creating greater customer awareness of the various products its numbers have on offer and the expertise available with them, the Association regularly publishes the ILPA News Bulletin and runs an independent website- “www.ilpaindia.org” which have now come to be accepted as informative sources of information on the Indian Leather Products Industry.
The Association was selected by the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, Government of India, the Council for Leather Exports and the Government of West Bengal for setting up of the new Leather Goods Park in Bantala. ILPA has been closely include in the setting up of the Calcutta Leather Complex and a 50-area Leather Goods Park has been set up in the complex with a Design Studio and common facility centre. The unit is being exclusively run and managed by the ILPA Infrastructure Development Foundation, an affiliate of the Association.
