Actis targets B, C cities for growth

NEW DELHI: Actis Technologies Pvt. Ltd, an audio-visual and environment control
solutions provider, is planning to further increase its penetration in the B and

C class cities in India.






The company currently has 500 partners, which include systems integrators (SIs),
value added resellers (VARs) and partners from the IT community, office

automation and AV community.






Elaborating on the company's plans, Actis director Abhimanyu Gupta said, “We
want to target all types of towns and cities, so going forward we want to

improve our penetration in class B and C class cities. So far our coverage in

class A cities is very good and we have covered a lot of class B cities. Going

forward, our focus would be to cover the rest.”






He added, “Right now I cannot give you the number of channels that we plan to
have in these cities, but over the next year to year and a half our aim would be

to cover most of the B and C cities. In the smaller towns, we would look at a

minimum of one partner and in the larger town we would typically have more than

one partner.”






The company caters to primarily to three segments — commercial, residential and
the educational. The solutions provided varies depending on the location and

depending on which segment it is targeted at.






Actis packages together the most appropriate equipment for visual and voice
based communication (large screen displays, sound and conferencing systems) and

environmental controls (lighting and HVAC), depending on the consumer's

requirements. It has cornered around five per cent of the video conferencing end

points market, which was about Rs 60 crore in 2005. Gupta said that this is

going to be a focus sector for Actis in the times to come.






In the last two months the company has released a number of new products and
technologies. It recently tied up with Schneider Electric to launch Clipsal's

C-Bus System, an intelligent home and office lighting control solution. The

company has also introduced new products as part of its video conferencing

systems from Polycom and has also ties up with Benq for projects.






Gupta added, “This is not all. In future we would be announcing many interesting
products including media servers, etc. in the next four - six weeks.”
