BANGALORE, INDIA: PC-maker Acer announced the launch of its Nettop category in India, with the launch of Aspire EL1600, powered by Intel Atom processor 230 CPU, 1.6 GHz, a low power single-core processor specially designed for emerging Nettop category.
S Rajendran, chief marketing officer, Acer India, said: "The EL 1600 marks the launch of first true Nettop in the Indian market is a significant moment for the PC industry in India. Our objective is to drive Nettops as another choice for potential computer users. Optimized for an unmatched net experience, it is equally versatile for normal computing applications that ranges from document processing (Text, Spreadsheets, Presentations) and management to audio/video playbacks. All in a nifty 8.5L cool form factor at an incredible price point."
The EL1600 comes in a black glossy exterior packaged into a small form factor (first in the Indian market) of 8.5 Litres. The SATA serial hard disk of up to 160 gigabytes gives the user ample storage options besides 1024 MB RAM memory installed which adds to the system performance. It also features Intel graphics media accelerator 950, which promises optimum level of graphics capabilities, high-definition audio and up to 8 USB ports. The extra-small form factor (xSFF) PC is a tiny-but-robust entertainment center. It is 1/3 the size of a normal PC but a powerful performer with room for upgrades.

Sales of desktop PCs have seemingly hit roadblocks evidently slowing down to an extent.
