It seems Acer just could not hold the excitement. The Taiwanese company introduced a handful of new devices just days ahead of the Computex tech conference in Taipei, which is scheduled to happen between May 30 and June 3.
The company announced two new laptops: the Nitro 5, designed for casual gaming; and the Spin 1, an ultra-light convertible laptop that comes in at less than three pounds, and two Iconia-branded Android tablets.
Acer Nitro 5:
Acer Nitro 5 is a gaming laptop with multiple configurations, boasting a 15.6-inch full-HD display with up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM, 512GB SSD, and 2TB HDD storage. The Nitro 5 will arrive in North America in July with prices tag of $799.
The laptop includes Intel and AMD processors. The Intel configurations will pack a seventh-generation Core i5 and an i7 processor that’s paired with a discrete Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics chip. Meanwhile, AMD-based configurations will include the company’s seventh-generation A-Series FX, A12, and A10 APUs along with discrete Radeon RX 550 graphics chip.
With Nitro 5, Acer has also introduced Coolboost technology to take care of the heating. “The Nitro 5 features dual fans with Acer Coolboost technology, which delivers heightened fan speeds and cooling ability, and allows users to manually control the cooling process when heavy use requires an added boost,” Acer says.
The keyboard has red backlighting, and ports include USB 3.1 Type-C, USB 3.1 Type-A, Gigabit Ethernet, two USB 2.0 Type-A ports, and HDMI 2.0.
Acer Spin 1:
Adorned with a metallic build, the Acer Spin 1 convertible comes with the option of Intel’s Celeron or Pentium processors and up to 4GB of DDR3 RAM. Priced at $329, the device sports an 11.6-inch Full HD display that can rotate up to 360 degrees and offers up to 128GB storage. The device runs Windows 10 and is compatible with Windows Ink.
“With a sleek all-metal chassis, the Windows 10 device is lightweight, portable, and supports Windows Ink through an Acer Active Stylus for creative users on the go,” the company says. “The Spin 1 combines superb hardware with innovative features to make the user experience really pop.”
Acer Iconia 10 and Iconia One 10:
Designed for premium multimedia experiences, the two new 10-inch Android tablets that run on Android 7.0 Nougat are the premium Iconia Tab 10 (A3-A50) and the productivity-focused Iconia One 10 (B3-A40FHD).
