MUMBAI, INDIA: Acer India announced that its relationship with Nvidia has taken a step forward with Acer making many of their mainstream desktops and notebooks compute unified device architecture (CUDA) enabled.
The paradigm shift, achieved through heterogeneous computing, where both the CPU and GPU are fully exploited, will become increasingly important for more efficient ways of working. This computing also ensures a ‘greener’ way of working, resulting in lower energy consumption profiles.
The Visual Computing Seminar, hosted in Hyderabad, witnessed attendance from diverse segments: education, government research labs, defence, pharamceutical companies, biotech companies, R&D wings of leading private sector companies and companies from the ITeS space. The key message about the potency of blending, both serial processing and parallel processing was well received by the participants in this interactive four-hour session.
S Rajendran, Chief Marketing Officer, Acer India said, “Acer and Nvidia have been mutually leveraging each others' strengths to provide compelling value propositions to the customer.
Realizing the growing importance of visual computing, Acer has enabled many of its mainstream desktops and notebooks with Nvidia Cuda-based GPUs and chipsets, without any significant impact on pricing. Cuda powered Acer Veriton desktops start at Rs 25,000, and Acer Extensa and TravelMate Notebooks in the sub Rs 45,000 price bands.
Nishant Goyal, Sales Manager—South East Asia, Nvidia said, “There are already over 100 million Cuda capable GPUs in the world and we look forward to engaging in an active partnership with Acer to make this technology even more pervasive. Through this partnership, we plan to continue enabling Cuda in the education space with many value adds including Cuda Labs, course content, training and certification programs.”
