Acer India rolls out LCD, DLP projectors

BANGALORE: Acer has announced the launch of its range of projectors, a
price-aggressive product in its Consumer Product Group (CPG) portfolio. The
projectors feature ultra brightness, high contrast ratio, longer lamp life and
are extremely light weight.The projector range is available in both LCD (liquid
crystal displays) and DLP (digital light processing). The LCD projector (Acer
PL111), which is 1300 Lumens with speakers, is priced at an end-user price of
Rs. 99,999 + tax. Pricing for DLP projectors is at Rs. 1.2 lakh, Rs. 1.29 lakh,
Rs. 2.34 lakh, Rs. 2.49 lakh and Rs. 2.99 lakh for PD110z, PD 112, PD321, PD520
and PD721 models respectively. All the models are backed by a two-year warranty.

Acer projectors will be sold through dealers and channel partners and plans
to identify and select dealers across the country, with approximately four
partners per city. Currently, Acer has a service network spanning the entire
country with service centers across 19 locations and ASPs (Acer Service
Partners) in 56 cities to handle post-sales service.

"We feel there is an opportunity and a market for projectors, especially
as we are positioning it along with our existing product portfolio. Acer has
entered the market late but we will leverage the technology, pricing and our
service network to gain definite market share for our projectors," said Mr.
S. Rajendran, General Manager - Sales & Marketing, Consumer Product Group,
Acer India (Pvt) Ltd.

Acer will target specific sectors such as government, corporates, banking and
finance, SMEs and educational institutes with its projectors. Acer projectors
will complement products in Acer's current portfolio and will be positioned
along with Acer PCs and notebooks.

Acer projectors are now registered under the Kendriya Bhandar government
contract and will shortly be registered with the NCCF government contract.

Training programs, related to product and sales will be conducted for channel
partners. In addition, demonstration programs will also be conducted for
channels to help them understand the benefits and utilities of the projector.
