Accenture expands ops in Chennai

NEW DELHI: Accenture has announced the expansion of its delivery center in Chennai.

The technology major has moved to a larger permanent facility in Tek Meadows, Old Mahabalipuram Road in Chennai. It has scaled its operations in the country in the past four years with the opening of delivery centers in India.

Announcing the launch of its new facility in Chennai, Karl-Heinz Floether, group chief executive-Technology & Delivery, Accenture said, “We are delighted and impressed with the growth we have been able to achieve in India. It is a key node in Accenture's Global Delivery Network. In addition to achieving an impressive scale in India in such a short time, we are also delighted by the capabilities we have built, the transformational work our employees do and the people-focus we have been able to maintain.”

Accenture set up operations in Chennai in the beginning of 2005 and already employs over 800 people.

The company has been continuously recruiting across India. In Chennai, it is looking at hiring technology graduates and IT professionals with skills in open systems (.NET and Java), host centric systems (mainframes), enterprise solutions (SAP, Siebel, Oracle), testing, business intelligence & datawarehousing.

As of July 2005, Accenture had over 15,000 people in India and serves more than 170 global clients through its delivery centers in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai and Bangalore.
