BANGALORE: Accelerated Networks, the Bangalore based networking company, is
all set to launch its new element management system (EMS) solution worldwide.
Developed completely at its Bangalore R&D center, AccessPilot is a CORBA-compliant,
carrier-class EMS that simplifies multi-service provisioning in networks.
AccessPilot is designed to provide concentrated fault, configuration and
performance functions. Each component of AccessPilot serves distinct functions
and can be distributed across disparate access networks. Further more, both
in-band and out-of-band network management connectivity to each AN-3200
concentrator or gateway is supported, providing redundant management path access
and optimal connectivity with the use of ATM virtual circuits.
Talking about the technology on which the new solution is based, Accelerated
Networks president and CEO Suresh Nihalani said, "The power of AccessPilot
becomes most evident when you consider that each component can be deployed
across multiple locations on any number of management stations. Service
providers can leverage the distributed embedded technology, allowing for the
deployment of a fully distributed, yet centrally managed system. Expanding
AccessPilot’s capabilities for more equipment is as simple as adding another
AccessPilot management station. If you already have a management platform, you
should know that AccessPilot is also designed to easily integrate into an OSS.
In this mode, AccessPilot performs the collection of data from Accelerated
Networks’ AN-3200 network elements and provides a mediation function (i.e.,
CORBA adapter) to an OSS."
Accelerated Networks is slated to release this solution in the first quarter
of 2001 in the US and European markets. The company, which has invested around
Rs 8.5 crore in its Bangalore R&D center, is expected to double the
investment next year.
