"There are several vendors that can meet the various needs of the Tier 2 - 4 operator, but one that is focused on the particular needs of video optimization, monetization and keeps an eye on Virtualization, SDN / NFV and Cloud is Openwave Mobility. The Openwave Mobility Integra platform is one answer to the Tier 2 - 4 operator needs," according to Joe Hoffman, ABI's Practice Director for Software, Optimization and Monetization, in his report, Small Operators Can Step Up to SDN/NFV by Virtualizing Video. Tier 2-4 operators have a lot to gain from SDN and NFV deployments, and the report details how Openwave Mobility's Integra platform can get them started in this new and complex area.

Integra is the industry's first layer 7-enabled SDN and NFV platform, empowering mobile operators with the ability to optimize and monetize network traffic in a virtualized manner. Using principles of NFV, Integra enables operators to dynamically add new services such as optimization and deploy resources without the lengthy lead times operators normally incur.

"Operators need to address their video traffic growth, to ensure scalable and profitable operations but have limited resources," says Indranil Chatterjee, Vice President of Product Management, Marketing and Strategy at Openwave Mobility. "Integra is able to meet the needs of operators focused on video optimization, data monetization, and to exploit the benefits of NFV in terms of service elasticity, velocity and differentiation."

Integra was underscored as a core solution to securing big payoffs in network virtualization by enabling operators to immediately address and optimize both over-the-top (OTT) video traffic and web traffic, in the study. It was specifically highlighted for its ability to optimize OTT video while allowing operators to maximize future innovations in hardware design.

"Tier 2-4 operators have all the same video issues as Tier 1 operators, but with less resources to address these needs" said Hoffman. "Openwave Mobility's Integra platform is one solution for Tier 2-4 operators, as it can immediately address and optimize OTT video and web traffic."
