BANGALORE, INDIA: The much-delayed, upgraded version of the Aakash Tablet, the Aakash 2 is finally set to be released, according to Indian HRD Minister Kapil Sibal.

Kapil Sibal also stated that the Government had approved the specifications of the 100 odd tablets that were sent by Datawind (Manufacturer of Aakash and the upgraded Aakash) for testing to I.I.T Bombay.

Even the C.E.O of Datawind, Sunit Singh Tuli echoed the Government's claim of specification approval.

This is surely good news for the people, especially the student community of India who have pre-booked the Aakash Tablet and are waiting with bated breath for the gadget to reach them. The Indian Government's earlier offering, the Aakash ( Ubislate 7 ) was a complete failure as it neither reached the intended recipients in full nor found acceptance among the people it reached out to. Its technical specifications also received criticism from various quarters.

The Aakash 2 also had to face various issues. One major issue was IIT Rajasthan rejecting the Tablet for it not meeting the adequate performance criteria. This issue forced IIT Bombay to take up the Ubislate 7+.

This time around, the improved version of the Aakash Tablet can be used for computer-program creation and can even be used to work on Python, C, C++ and Scilab platforms. Apart from this, the gadget can also be use to access various e-governance services.

The Indian HRD Minister Kapil Sibal surely seemed impressed with the Aakash 2 and its expected release. But the people's mandate is the ultimate opinion that one can consider in this regard.

We also honestly hope that the people give a big thumbs-up to the Aakash 2.
