NEW DELHI: Oracle has announced the general availability of Oracle HTML DB Release 2.0, an Oracle Database 10g feature that enables customers to easily build, deploy and manage secure Web applications using only a Web browser.

Release 2.0 of Oracle HTML DB delivers a wider range of capabilities that allow users to more easily develop Web-based applications, design SQL queries, and edit SQL and PL/SQL within a Web browser. The latest release also includes enhancements and new features that allow for overall greater ease of use, increased application performance, and tighter application security.

"Oracle HTML DB Release 2.0 delivers significant benefits to all users from sophisticated Oracle database developers to non-developer power users," said Oracle Senior Vice President of Database Server Technologies, Andy Mendelsohn. "We are very pleased to see how HTML DB Release 2 is enabling customers to build Oracle database applications for the web with incredible speed."

The new and enhanced features in Oracle HTML DB Release 2.0 include:

  • Create Application Wizard - enables users to quickly prototype applications and assemble multi-page applications with reports that drill down and breadcrumb menus for navigation;


  • Enhanced SQL Workshop - new features in the SQL Workshop such as a graphical Query Builder, Object Browser and PL/SQL Editor makes viewing and management of database objects significantly easier;

  • Improved User Interface - new pull down menus and icon views enable users to navigate HTML DB more efficiently; and,


  • Session State Protection - enables users to add an extra layer of security to an application by protecting against URL tampering, which adversely affects program logic, session state contents, and information privacy.
