A 'novel' entry into blogosphere

MALAPPURAM, INDIA: Blog has become the way of the world. A great platform to communicate oneself. It has even changed the way we read and quite few writers have the feeling that books may soon become a thing of the past.

It was only recently that Meenakshi Madhavan Reddy released her first novel, ‘You Are Here’, which is an adaptation of her ‘explosive’ blog The compulsive confessor.

As Net-centric reading is gaining ground in India, more and more writers are turning to the blogosphere to express themselves.

And it is this realization about the global reach of the medium that made V.T. Nandan, a Malayalam novelist to experiment with the platform of blog to release his latest novel through the blog.

Though many writers have embraced the blogosphere to reach out to the readers, it is for the first time that a Malayalam novel is being released through the blog.

The 47-year-old novelist has already uploaded the opening chapter of the novel, which can be accessed at hanumanasam.blogspot.com.

“This novel is obviously a political satire presented on the background of Ramayana,” says Nandan. “Apart from the political issues in the state, it also depicts mainstream political leaders like Sonia Gandhi and V.S. Achuthanandan.”

Nandan is planning to upload one chapter each of the novel every week, just like a novel being serialized in a periodical. An online novel in the making….!
