A&N Islands conducts e-governance meet

PORT BLAIR, INDIA: According to a PTI report, a consultative meet on e-governance was conducted on November 3 in Port Blair.

The meet was aimed at popularising the mission and message of the National E-governance Plan (NeGP). The workshop was organised by Department of Electronics and Information Technology and A&N Administration in partnership with NASSCOM.

The consultative meet which was inaugurated by the Chief Secretary of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Anand Prakash is part of the 50 workshops being organised in all states and Union Territories to amplify the mission and message of National E Governance plan - Public Services Closer Home, said an official.

The project which was approved by the Central cabinet in May 2006, aims to deliver public services with full accessibility and affordability. The NeGP Apex committee created awareness about NeGP initiatives among stakeholders, discuss challenges in delivery of services,identify state-specific issues and understand emerging technologies through workshops and consultative meets.

As per the official, the series of workshops and consultative meets will cover all state capitals, Union Territories and some important cities in India. The workshop in Port Blair was the 21st workshop in the series. The key stakeholders of the NeGP from the Central and State Governments, e-Governance consultants, technology partners and implementing agencies had attended the workshop in Port Blair.
