MUMBAI, INDIA: "Hmm.. so this is something I ordered from ">#flipkart but when I opened it the branding was of ">#snapdeal"> ... New marketing strategy for snapdeal I guess...
— feeling amused."
Mayank Ranka, a media professional in Mumbai after receiving delivery of his shoes from Flipkart posted that on his Facebook page.
So here is what happened. The order was placed in Flipkart and when it arrived on 16th April it had a packaging of Snapdeal. Flipkart or Snapdeal's marketing strategy (which I fail to understand) or a blunt mistake?
Also, the product (shoes) which arrived was not the one ordered but well a similar one, so kudos to that!
E-commerce has been a growing market, with many players rising up in the horizon. At this hour, the bigger players only needs to be more cautious and perform even better to hold the market stronger.
Here's wishing Flipkart good luck for their next big move to app. Hope they avert silly mistakes and turn even bigger!
