A green mission for a greener technology

BANGALORE, INDIA: Sun Microsystems India, a player in the IT industry, today rolled out Technovate 2008, the second edition of its annual IT event for India's top CxOs.

Built around the theme of Cycles of Balance Smart Technology = Green Technology, the program addresses one of the biggest concerns and challenges faced by organizations today - that of preserving the environment, a press release said.

The two-day event was kicked off with a keynote address by John Fowler, executive vice president- systems, Sun Microsystems Inc.

More than 300 CxOs (CIOs, CFOs and CEOs) from various industry sectors across the country are participating in it.

The IT event focuses on eco-innovation, green technologies for a sustainable future.

In his keynote presentation titled "The New Eco-nomics" - Creating Value and Opportunity Through Eco Innovation, John Fowler highlighted Sun's eco responsibility and commitment towards its customers.

He also explained the energy saving imperatives for organizations and the role played by of Sun's innovations in its products and technologies to help organizations realize 'eco dreams', the release said.

"Organizations today have realized that adopting green IT is an opportunity to cut costs, use less space, improve performance and efficiency and green their businesses on their own," he said.
