SAN MATEO, USA: 4INFO has launched a campaign to warn consumers about the dangers of carelessly operating tablets and smartphones during the holidays.

Tim Jenkins, 4INFO CEO, said: "With so many shoppers using mobile devices to enhance their holiday gift-grabbing experience, our campaign reminds mobile users to be especially vigilant. Wandering through busy malls and icy parking lots with their eyes glued to smartphones is potentially catastrophic.

"These devices don't have airbags. Believe me, we tried. The technology just isn't there yet. Americans must mitigate the risks these devices place on their fellow citizens during this festive, yet hectic season."

Beyond the visual distractions, cold winter weather creates other serious concerns. Operating a touchscreen through heavy mittens is all but impossible. But the dangers of swiping a bare finger across a frozen tablet, or putting a sub-zero smartphone against your ear, are obvious.

4INFO chief marketing officer, Chuck Moxley, added: "Remember, every phone has a camera. You're never more than a slip and a few screen taps from becoming the next viral sensation on YouTube."
