3GPP2 and CDG organize cdma2000 workshop

NEW DELHI: The Third Generation Partnership Project 2 (3GPP2) and the CDMA Development Group (CDG) held a cdma2000 workshop in New Delhi to discuss how cdma2000 technologies have contributed to the development of telecommunication services in India.






According to the press release, more than 150 participants attended the seminar, representing regulators, operators and vendors from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Canada, China, India, Japan, Korea, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and the US. Rajendra Singh from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) and Wireless Advisor to Government of India PK Garg were the keynote speakers. Other speakers included representatives from Ericsson, LGE, Lucent, Motorola, Nortel, Qualcomm, Samsung, Spirent, Reliance and Tata.





Presentations focused on the unique requirements of the Indian market, including the targeted subscriber growth of more than 200 million subscribers by the end of 2007, and how cdma2000 technology can continue to support the development of advanced communication services in the region. The speakers stressed the importance of adequate spectrum and its efficient utilization, as well as adhering to international standards and practices, to leverage the global economies of scale to provide effective, low cost service solutions that meet the needs of the Indian market.





3GPP2is a collaborative 3G telecommunications specification-setting project comprising North American and Asian interests. The CDG is a trade association formed to foster the worldwide development, implementation and use of CDMA technologies.
