3G to push telecom manufacturing in India

BANGALORE, INDIA: There is a huge possibility for boosting the manufacturing market for 3G infrastructure, post 3G auctions. There could be an arrival of telcos too as Nokia Siemens Networks announced that they would now start manufacturing 3G mobile communications infrastructure at their Chennai facility.

“India is not just a high growth market but also an innovation hub for us. Our manufacturing operations in India reflect our unwavering focus on the country and enhance our proximity to our customers,” said Urs Pennanen, head, India region, NSN.

Pennanen was of the view that with 3G underway and the overwhelming growth in the telecommunications sector in India, operators would definitely require local manufacturing partners and this is currently the right time and place to start 3G manufacturing for India.
