3Com launches new gigabit Ethernet products

NEW DELHI: 3Com Corporation, a company dealing in Gigabit Ethernet

technology, has announced a range of new high-performance enterprise networking

solutions.



The new solutions are build on 3Com's existing portfolio of modular and
stackable local area network (LAN) switches and network interface cards (NICs).

The new enterprise switches are based on 3Com-developed ASIC

(application-specific integrated circuit) technology uniquely designed for rich

features and high performance.

The new 3Com desktop and server NICs can be installed for an instant network

upgrade or as part of an end-to-end Gigabit Ethernet network migration strategy.

The expanded range of 3Com enterprise solutions include: SuperStack 3 Switch

4924, SuperStack 3 Switch 4950, Layer 3 Software for SuperStack 3 Switch 4900

Family, Gigabit Ethernet Starter Kits and Modules for Switch 4005, Copper

Gigabit Ethernet Capability for the Switch 4007, Gigabit Network Interface Card

(3C1000-T), Gigabit Server Network Interface Card (3C996B-T) and Gigabit Fiber-SX

Server Network Interface Card (3C996-SX).

In addition, 3Com Network Supervisor has been updated to manage the new



switches with powerful, easy-to-use, network discovery, topology and stress
monitoring applications. Managers can easily deploy and maintain their network

at peak performance. 3Com Network Supervisor is now available at www.3com.com/3ns

.

The SuperStack 3 Switch 4924 is available at $9,995 from October, 2001. The

SuperStack 3 Switch 4950 would be available at $13,995 from November, 2001.
