The 2nd Edition Agriculture Growth Summit: Sheds Light On The Latest Agricultural Practices & Innovations in Agri-Tech

The agricultural industry is making waves in the Indian economy and with new reforms paving their way in, the market is predicted to undergo a reformative change. The 2nd Agriculture Growth Summit held at Mumbai on 28th February 2019 brought together several stakeholders to discuss the impact of the new ideations, technology and practices in the modern day agri-tech and socio-agri scenario.

The event was attended by Member of Legislative Assembly, Mr. Arjun Khotkar who brought attention to the need to bring in new ideas and technical practices that can be implemented for the farmers in various district of Maharashtra who yet to avail the scalability of the technical innovation. A deep insight into the current practices of conventional farming practices and how they can be reformed was also in the main highlights of the discussion.

The highly esteemed panel of industry experts engaged in a deep-set conversation on topics ranging from economic referendums to challenges faced by the challenges. Some of the agricultural challenges mentioned were heavy influx of data but without any insight, no risk-cover or insurance for farmers, debt traps agro-chemical policies, e-Commerce compliance and most importantly, the inclusion of technology in making lives better for the farmers.

The experts noted that technology is imperative to the need of growing organic and healthy crops in abundance while maintaining a clear demand & supply funnel between the farmers and the suppliers. AI technology can help assess the quality of crops, the origins and type of manure to be used and help the farmers stay wary of chemicals that can nullify their produce. The talk was clearly emphasized upon educating the agricultural stakeholders about the measures to be taken for a clear practice, rather than be a mere knowledge provider.

Financial litigation, monopoly and lack of reinforcement were also raised as a point of concern during the discussion. This challenge was sought to be mitigated by the upcoming agricultural ventures & startups that can blend technology with traditional Indian farming practices and make a viable option for those involved. They were called upon to look at the challenges that were deemed unsolvable till date. This was predicted to help understand the contemporary layout that can be deployed to change farming tactics and save farmers from the clutches of financial depravity & boost them with novel innovations.

The discussion helped bring into light new ideas and standpoints that were evading the concept of ethical and reformative agricultural practices. The summit proved to be a collaborative platform for new startups to pitch their ideas and gather knowledge & funding in VC rounds for their start-up.
