2G scam: JPC to summon Vajpayee?

NEW DELHI, INDIA: As the ambit of the alleged dual technology swindle widens, the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) has reportedly compiled a list of individuals for questioning.

Those who are expected to be summoned also include senior politicians and bureaucrats during the NDA regime and corporate czars.

Earlier, the master list, including the names of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, former defence minister George Fernandes, former telecom minister Arun Shourie, Sushma Swaraj and home minister P Chidambaram, was withdrawn.

On July 10, JPC chairman PC Chacko will deliberate on new names with the committee members before compiling a comprehensive list. The upcoming list that would also include witnesses and could have names such as Anil Ambani, Ratan Tata.

Public Accounts Committee (PAC) headed by Murli Manohar Joshi, in 2011 summoned controversial lobbyist Nira Radia and few corporate honchos.
