2G scam: CBI frames charges against Raja, Kanimozhi

NEW DELHI, INDIA: A special CBI court on Saturday framed charges against all 17 accused — fourteen individuals and three companies — in the 2G spectrum allocation scam, including former telecom minister A Raja and DMK MP Kanimozhi, for criminal breach of trust that could entail a maximum punishment of life imprisonment (7 year)

While all 17 accused were charged with Section 120 B (criminal conspiracy), Raja and Kanimozhi were also charged with Section 409 (criminal breach of trust by public servant).

Special Judge O.P. Saini said: "Section 409 is imposed on Raja and two of his secretaries."

Former telecom secretary Siddharth Behura and former private secretary to Raja, R.K. Chandolia, too have been charged for criminal breach of trust.
