NEW DELHI, INDIA: As the trial for 2G spectrum allocation scandal resumed today, Aseervatham Achary, CBI’s key witness, denied implicating A Raja falsely. The trial court was adjourned after Achary complained of illness during the cross-examination.
Former telecom secretary Siddhartha Behura’s counsel will cross examine Achary tomorrow. During questionning, Raja’s counsel Sushil Kumar alleged that Achary is a manufactured witness.
Raja contended that he was falsely implicated because he didn’t support his political ambitions. Kumar also said that it was Achary who shared information on alleged scandal to one of the English dailies.
As a star witness of CBI, Achary had earlier alleged that Raja was closely associated with other 2G scam co-accused that included parliamentarian Kanimozhi and other telecom honchos such as Sanjay Chandra, Vinod Goenka and Shahid Balwa.
