"We will consider it," said Sibal.

The telecom watchdog of the country, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), had on Thursday recommended scrapping of 69 of the 122 licences given for 2G phone services to new players.

A scandal involving spectrum allocation that a government audit said may have cost India $31 billion led to the sacking of Telecoms Minister Andimuthu Raja over the weekend and has turned the spotlight on companies involved.

Meanwhile, signalling a clear support to the Prime Minister who is facing a tough time following the 2G scam, Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi has reportedly said Manmohan Singh is not in an embarrassing position because of the Supreme Court's observation in the 2G Spectrum case. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has asked the Attorney General to represent him at the Supreme Court over the row.
