The government had sought the Presidential reference to ask the top court to review its order that cancelled 122 licences on February 2.

CPIL informed the court that such a reference is not maintainable. While the government, however, argued that the February 2 judgement raised doubts on the manner in which natural resources were to be distributed.

“Environmental resources and natural resources are different,” the attorney general told the court.
