Netkraft lays off `skill-less and consistent under performers’

Netkraft has laid off 45 employees saying that it was a part of the
company’s restructuring exercise. The company CEO told CIOL Bureau that among
the employees laid off were ones found to have skills less relevant to current
customer requirements and some were consistent under performers. Some of the
senior managers in the company have also taken upto 30% voluntary pay cuts.

Aptech Q2 net slumps 94%

Aptech has posted a Q2 net profit that plummeted 94% compared to
the same period last year. NIIT had earlier announced a 93% dip in profit.
Aptech has already announced that it is spinning off the training business into
a separate company.

Slowdown gulps 80,000 jobs in the Valley

Silicon Valley or Death Valley? They are a few hundred miles apart.
But business-wise, the two appear interchangeable at the moment. The new
layoffs at Hewlett-Packard (6,000) and Uniphase (16,000) sent a shock wave
through the area where more than 80,000 people have lost their job this year.
