Struggling telecommunications equipment giant Lucent Technologies Inc. is not likely to be acquired by another company given the weak technology market and Lucent’s restructuring efforts, say analysts and portfolio managers. Alcatel is reported to be proceeding with a merger deal for Lucent’s fiber-optic cable unit.
