121 mn Chinese Internet users are hacking victims

BEIJING, CHINA: A total of 121 million Chinese Internet users have been victims of account hacking, online password theft and online fraud at the end of this June, the China Daily reported on Tuesday.


This accounted for 24.9 per cent of all online users in China, it said in a report taken from the Legal Daily.

The number of Internet users hit 485 million at the end of June, up 6.1 per cent on the previous half-year period, according to a report released by the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC).

Among them, 38.8 million experienced online purchase fraud, when shopping via the Internet, said the report.
