Zylog launches Wi5 services in Punjab

CHENNAI, INDIA: Internet service provider Zylog Systems announced the launch of its Wi5 fixed wireless broadband services in Punjab.

This service will be available in Ludhiana, Kharar, Zirakpur, Hoshiarpur and Mohali in the first phase and will later be extended to other parts of the state.

Zylog would soon set up a regional customer care centre in Mohali. Zylog’s Wi5 will offer various unlimited Internet plans with download speeds ranging from 256 kbps up to 2Mbps starting from Rs. 499.

The company plans to retail network subscription to individual users on an advance rental basis.

Also available is a 256 Kbps plan with 2 GB data limit for just Rs 250 per month + tax.

S Venkatesh, chief operating officer, Wi5, Zylog Systems India, said, “Our VoIP service — ‘Wi5 Mega Talk’ is already active in the state and has received overwhelming response from our customers. We are expecting to complete the Wi5 project in Punjab by February 2011 and attain a subscriber base of around 25,000 by March 2012”.

Shivkumar Jagannath, chief technology officer, Wi5, Zylog Systems India Ltd, said: “The Fixed Wireless network architecture adopted by Zylog allows to reach areas that are till now under-served by the incumbent ISPs who normally use wireline technologies like ADSL."
