Speaking on the sidelines of Blockchain Business Conference in Visakhapatnam, Lokesh said that the firm, known for operating from tier-II cities, was setting up a small unit with 150 employees in a leased premises and has sought land to launch the development centre.

The minister also revealed that Amaravati would become the first capital in India to have land registry using blockchain technology. “Once implemented, we will have the unique distinction as the first State to have land without any dispute over title deeds,” he said. The State was the first to use blockchain technology in the road transport and registrations departments as a pilot project.

According to the IT minister, IT companies prefer temple town for their operations due to its proximity to Chennai and Bangalore. Tirupati is also emerging as electronic manufacturing cluster for cell phones and consumer durables.

The Andhra government had earlier announced that it will create one lakh jobs in information technology and two lakh in electronics by 2019. Lokesh said the government has already created over 22,000 jobs in IT and around 40,000 in electronics so far.
