Zebra intros iPhone app, unveils SDK for custom apps

ORLANDO, USA: Zebra Technologies Corporation has announced the release of its ZebraLink Utilities app for Apple mobile digital devices as well as a Multiplatform Software Development Kit (SDK).

According to press release, new SDK allows developers to create iPhone, iPad and iPod touch apps that print labels, receipts or encode radio-frequency identification (RFID) tags directly to a Zebra Technologies mobile, desktop, tabletop or kiosk printer.

The new utility on the Apple AppStore includes:

* print a PDF or label template directly to a Zebra printer via WLAN;

* retrieve and print files from the Web;

* take and print photos via WLAN; and

* check printer status and directly connect to a printer via Wi-Fi.

"Zebra is continually investing in new technology to provide innovative ways to use our printers. Our first multiplatform SDK and Utility is just another key example of Zebra's dedication to inventive solutions," said Leo Lowy, product manager at Zebra Technologies.

Through the ZebraLink Multiplatform SDK, developers can create a customized application that seamlessly integrates printing to meet their respective unique needs, saving companies time and resources.

Newly launched SDK also includes source code samples, documentation and on-device demonstration modules for creating custom applications with embedded support for Zebra printers.
