YouTube has reduced the threshold of 10,000 subscribers to 1,000 subscribers for broadcasters to live stream directly to their channel from their smartphones.

In February, YouTube introduced the ability to live stream straight from your phone/tablet, much like Periscope and Instagram Live, but only for channels with at least 10,000 subscribers to use the feature.

The company's support page confirmed the change and also mentioned the requirements needed for live broadcasting video. "Confirm that your channel is verified and that you have no live stream restrictions in the last 90 days. Note: For YouTube live on mobile, your channels must have over 1,000 subscribers."

The latest change seems like a move to induce people to start creating more live content on the platform in line with Facebook and Twitter.
