Though Yahoo has been acquired by Verizon for $4.8 billion, Yahoo still remains a standalone company. So, it's work as usual at the company. For those of you who still rely on Yahoo for your messaging needs, the internet pioneer has released a redesigned Yahoo Messenger for the desktop, giving the software both a much fresher look and a handful of big new features that you don't always see in personal chat clients.

The desktop Messenger boasts of including some of the most popular features of Yahoo Messenger on the mobile app and web version. This includes un-sending messages, GIF sharing, drag-and-drop photo sharing, etc., in addition to desktop notifications.

Users can share multiple photos at once by using the drag and drop feature. They can also “like” posts or photos as well as reply with GIFs. The new desktop app also comes with desktop notifications which allow users to continue with their work without checking for messages every now and then.

And for those who are still using the old version, update it before August 5 as it will no longer function after that.
