World's oldest tweeter dies at 104

LONDON, UK: Ivy Bean, who is believed to be the world's oldest Twitter user, has died at the Hillside Manor residential home in Bradford, West Yorkshire, where she spent her last days. She was 104.

Confirming the news, the home manager Pat Wright, who took over her Twitter account when she became ill, and kept her followers updated on her progress, tweeted, "ivy passed away peacefully at 12.08 this morning."

Another post said, "Hello all of ivys twitter friend by now you will have heard about our dear friend i cannot explain how we are all feeling here."

Bean, who grew up at a time when pigeon and letters were among the means of communication, took to modern day ultra-fast mode of communication by joining Facebook in 2007 and Twitter in 2008.

On Facebook as well, she had gathered a huge number of friends.

At the time of publishing this article, Bean's Twitter account has 61,710 followers. Among those were singer Peter Andre - whom she met and tweeted about regularly - and DJ Chris Evans. Bean had been following 6207 people.

Ever since the news about her death was out, tribute to the senior most twitter has been flooding the Internet.

She posted regularly on everything from the fish and chips she liked to TV shows she enjoyed.
