In the UK, Toshiba DTVs are enabling consumers to enjoy a high-quality entertainment experience when using Dixon's Retail's KNOWHOW Movies, one of the many services around the globe now supporting Rovi's advanced adaptive streaming format.

"Today, consumers in the UK are able to experience our advanced adaptive streaming solution first hand, which is a true testament to our success in rapidly taking DivX Plus Streaming from market adoption to consumer availability," said Bob Shallow, SVP, Product Sales and Marketing at Rovi. "Thanks to our collaboration with leading IC and CE manufacturers, we are realizing our vision for delivering a better consumer streaming experience."

DivX Plus Streaming brings a cutting-edge feature set to streaming media that is typically characteristic of the Blu-ray Disc consumer experience including enabling multi-language subtitles and audio tracks, trick-play track for smooth fast forward and rewind, chapter points for quick scene navigation, and resume playback across devices.

In addition, to help eliminate buffering or the "spinning wheel", DivX Plus Streaming includes Dynamic Resolution Scaling. Providing smooth and seamless transitions between different resolutions, Dynamic Resolution Scaling helps consumers enjoy quick start times and continuous play even in low or fluctuating bandwidth environments.
