With Dell, now cash in 'virtually'

BANGALORE, INDIA: With a view to enable customers to capitalize on the so-called virtual era, Dell has launched a slew of solutions and services which are open and standard-based.

The new solutions are said to bring reduced data management costs by up to 50 per cent, with new levels of efficiency.

The company is also focusing on x86 architectures for the companies who wish to move from proprietary (Windows and Unix) to open platforms.

Sameer Garde, country general manager for Dell India, said, “Providing customers open, capable and affordable solutions is the design philosophy of Dell. $1.2 trillion is being spent on IT infrastructure services around the world in a year. IT organizations spend 70-80 per cent of the budget on day 1 of the fiscal year as upfront investment on implementation of IT infrastructures. We have to bring it down by 50 per cent helping innovation and business”.

Speaking to the media, Sally Stevens, VP, Platform Marketing at Dell, said, “Our strategy is to help CIOs achieve enterprise efficiency with a new approach to IT operations and innovative Intelligent Data Management. That strategy is built on a firm foundation of Intelligent

Infrastructure.”

Dell today announced Intelligent Data Management solutions that includes Next-Gen Object Storage, Deduplication, Unified Storage, Data Archiving Consulting.

The Intelligent Infrastructure and Management products and services include Intelligent Infrastructure, Simplified Infrastructure Management, Remote Support Services, Remote Management Services.

Garde informed that the new Deduplication offerings including the Dell/EMC DataDomain Series and the PowerVault DL2100 is now available in the market, along with the Unified Storage Dell|EMC NS Series, which is the platform for consolidating a wide array of environments and applications.

Dell DX6000, an object storage solution designed to access, store and send huge number of files which use simple cost effective architecture.
