Wipro sets up presence in Germany

BANGALORE: In a move to capitalizing its overseas opportunities and in a bid

to strengthen its presence in Europe, Wipro Technologies has announced the

launch of its operations in Frankfurt. Wipro’s portfolio of service offerings

in the German market will address the needs of the enterprises for business

applications and meet R&D outsourcing requirements of technology companies

in Germany.

With a resource base of 9,000 software professionals and world-class quality

processes, Wipro hopes to deliver high quality IT services with greater

reliability and speed. In order to bridge the cultural barriers and improve the

productivity, the firm is also gearing up to provide training in German language

to its software engineers and consultants working on projects in that country.

Currently, Wipro delivers IT and product design services in Germany to some

leading telecom, banking and technology companies. There are about 100

consultants working for its clients, in Germany as well as in its software

development centers in India.

Wipro Technologies vice president (sales and marketing) for European operations Sudip Nandy said, "In Germany, Wipro will address the requirements of the enterprise, technology and service provider markets. Germany today is the second largest IT market in Europe and according to a Gartner, is expected to grow to

around $92 billion by 2003. The major segments of this growth will be

development and integration, infrastructure management services, consulting and

software support services.’’

Wipro has been operating in the European market for the last six years and is

a fast growing market for Wipro. Europe contributed 29% of Wipro's total

software services revenue of nearly $380 million for the financial year

2000-2001.

solutions are focused on addressing the requirements of the enterprise,

technology and service provider markets. For the technology markets, Wipro works
