BANGALORE, INDIA: Wipro Infotech, the India, Middle East and Africa IT business wing of Wipro, is said to be close to signing outsourcing deals with two African telecom operators, in a bid to target the fast-growing sector in the continent.

“A reasonably large deal would be $50 million-$100 million for Indian companies,” a Dow Jones Newswires report quoted Anand Sankaran, the head of Wipro Infotech, as saying. He said the deals together are worth less than $100 million.

Wipro had this week announced that it has completed ten years of operations in the Middle East. With over 1300 employees servicing the region and 100 plus customers, Wipro said the company has emerged as a strategic IT partner to some of the biggest names in the region and Middle East has proved to be the growth engine for Wipro among emerging markets.
