"Over the last six years, Vivek's contribution to the success of our global IT business has been significant, as reflected in Wipro's lead position in many areas currently. We hope to be associated with him and expect him to bring new business to us," Premji said.

"I am sure he too will be interested in working with us," Premji told reporters at a media briefing on the company's financial results for the first quarter (April-June) of the current fiscal (2005-06) at the corporate headquarters.

The 46-year-old US-based Paul, who has resigned last month, is set to join Texas Pacific Group (TPG) as a general partner after his tenure with Wipro ends formally by the end of the current quarter in September.

The Texas-based leading private investment firm (TPG) manages about $15 billion funds and has an exposure of $3 billion in technology and telecom sectos globally. Paul is expected to play a major role in its technology as well as life sciences space as one of its partners.
