NEW DELHI: Wind River Systems, provider of Device Software Optimization (DSO), has announced that Nortel has selected Wind River Workbench as the preferred development suite for Nortel's VxWorks and Linux-based platform products. Workbench development suite is also part of Wind River's Platform for Network Equipment, Linux Edition platform product.

"Through this agreement, Nortel will be able to use the Wind River Workbench development environment across the company's R&D community regardless of the underlying target operating system (VxWorks or Linux)," said Nortel technology strategy and R&D effectiveness VP Mike Langlois. "This decision is consistent with Nortel's technology, platform and R&D effectiveness strategies," he added.

"Wind River Workbench provides developers with an end-to-end development suite that enables engineers to focus on innovation and bring products to market better, faster, at a lower cost and more reliably," said chief marketing officer for Wind River John Bruggeman. "In the fiercely competitive telecommunications market, our customers will benefit from the breadth and depth of Wind River Workbench, gaining control of development costs," he added.
