Will Tatas bag British telecom giant CWW?

BANGALORE, INDIA: In an effort to have a strong foothold in voice and data carrier business, Tata Communications Ltd is planning to bid for Cable & Wireless Worldwide (CWW) — a London-listed telecom company.

Tata Group's arm is vying with Vodafone for the potential acquisition. CWW owns 4,25,000km of cables in 150 countries, with its established presence in British colonies. About one-third of Cable & Wireless Worldwide’s (CWW) £2.2 billion revenues comes from acclimatized internet and delivery cartage for added telecom companies, according to bizvideo.com.

It's significant to note that Tata Group had acquired Teleglobe in Canada and Neotel in South Africa in 2009.

Known for its acquisitions across different platforms, Tata Communications recently announced a multi-year technology service and marketing agreement with Formula One Management.
