As per the latest reports from to Nikkei, Apple manufacturing partner Foxconn is testing wireless charging modules intended for use in the 2017 10th anniversary iPhone.

Just like every new iPhone buzz, iPhone 8 rumours are doing the rounds. The latest one hints at a change that might be welcomed by many or may be not. There was a word earlier that 2017 upgrade is expected to support wireless charging. But now word has it that, manufacturer Foxconn has already started building the required components to be embedded within the iPhone 8. However, according to the report by Nikkei Asian Review these wireless charging capabilities may only be limited to a premium variant. There is no confirmed news from Apple, it is said that even they are still contemplating and it will at the end depend on Foxconn's yield rate.

The year 2017 is going to be very special for Apple, as it will complete ten successful years of launching the iPhone, probably the best-selling product of the company. To mark the significance of the year it is expected that to celebrate the milestone there will be major upgrades to the smartphone, including skipping of the iPhone 7s - and directly naming it iPhone 8.

iPhone 8 is expected to under go major redesign with a glass body and edge-to-edge OLED display that integrates a Touch ID sensor and front-facing camera and it should arrive in September 2017.

Apple is known to have filed numerous patents for wireless charging technology. However, publicly it has always downplayed the usefulness of wireless charging, largely due to the need of a charging mat plugged into a wall.
