We have all seen Tintin in the best of spirits. But today, Tintin is mourning. He is paying a tribute to the victims of Tuesday morning's attacks in Brussels. The comic strip character Tintin was created by Brussels-born author Georges Remi, better known as Herge.
Tintin expressed his sadness at Tuesday's attacks on Twitter through the character's official account. Right after a few hours of the blasts, Twitter, Instagram and all other social media channels are flooded with images of a crying Tintin often with the hashtag #JeSuisBruxelles.

The world's best known young reporter has now become a symbol of grief. Art time and again helps us to express ourselves. In these difficult times, this becomes a most powerful image and medium of portraying the times we live in.
